Thanks to the explosion of numerous codes and a great diversity of sounds, contemporary music leaves an immense freedom to composers, performers and also to the public. Indeed, when the listener can let go, a whole imaginary world opens up to him from the sound evocations he hears. Poetry also plays a lot on the sonorities and in this sense, it is very comparable to the music of our time.
"Saying and playing the mountain" presents the public with a sound concept that musically and poetically evokes the multidimensional universe of mountainous soundscapes. It offers a parallel between contemporary music for solo cello and poems in different languages of various origins that can also dialogue with each other through sound. This form of mirror between music and poetry obviously questions the importance of the figurative sense and the richness of the imagination of each person, but it also allows to open the door to the emotions which are specific to each spectator.
As a red thread to this project: the mountain and the Swiss music for a unique sensory experience.
ESTELLE REVAZ AND CARINE TRIPET
It was around musical pedagogy that Estelle Revaz and Carine Tripet met in 2015. Together, they published in 2019 at L'Harmattan (Paris) a research on the development of artistic identity. The friendship and the particular connivance that developed between the two women allowed them to imagine "Saying and playing the mountain", an original show that allows the spectator to let go and connect to his own imagination.
ESTELLE REVAZ
Estelle Revaz, cellist recognized in Switzerland as well as on the international scene, is an ambassador of choice for the music of our time and more particularly for Swiss contemporary music. She has produced two albums (CANTIQUE and JOURNEY TO GENEVA), entirely dedicated to Swiss music, which have been unanimously acclaimed by specialized critics. Her immense charisma as well as the extent of her instrumental technique inspire many composers such as X. Dayer and J.-L Darbellay who dedicated several of their pieces to her. In addition to her stage experience, her three Masters degrees in solo cello, in contemporary music and in music education allow her to propose atypical programs that put the audience in the center of the experience.
CARINE TRIPET
Carine Tripet, a musician with a background in jazz and a specialist in world vocal music, has been an ambassador for the languages of the Valais for the past ten years. She has written many shows and produced several records related to the heritage languages of the Valais, that is to say about twenty patois and Walliser Mundart. She has made bilingual songs and poetic translations her textual and musical writing style. Going beyond the cantonal linguistic contours, she also writes songs in different languages with, and especially for, immigrants, telling their heritage or their journey of exile, voluntary or forced, a process sometimes marked by nostalgia and mourning, but infinitely rich in rhythm and vocal colors.
